Initial Yield is a project to explore the property and real estate industries online, helping others along the way!

Find out how to get in to the industry with our guides to choosing a university, graduating with top grades and an amazing CV, and most importantly – securing your first job!

It doesn’t stop there – starting a job in any industry is the beginning of a journey, where you will not want to stop learning – whether it is keeping up to date with industry trends, learning new skills and developing existing ones or having a structure to help guide you through the early years, which are key to building a platform to develop a long term career.

We are a work in progress and aim to provide up to date research articles, a glossary of definitions, a library of resources and key updates within the industry.

Initial Yield
Initial Yield is the annualised rents of a property expressed as a percentage of the property value.
Eg.
£100,000 passing rent per annum
£1,850,000 capital value of property
100000/1850000 = 0.054 or 5.4%
